Let me introduce you...

Hello folks from the sunny Turkey!!! Yeah, we were kind of complaining about the weather, all right, but not any longer after hitting the Mediterranean and Aegean coast and its beautiful beaches, some of them amazingly unspoiled. We got to Izmir from Ankara and decided to find a nice small town by the beach to escape the cities frenzy. We picked up Foça, a fishermen village and catering mainly to Turkish tourism, which was good for us, as the local holidays normally kick off around mid-June, so the town was not crammed at all.
We closed a deal with a dodgy rent a car place, yeah, the lad rented his own car to us for a low price so we took it for 8 days at least. We will see if the history has a happy ending... On top, this Turkish people are absolutely mad drivers, there are no rules on the road, they can come from any where, driving above 200Km/h on the motorway through the slow lane, respecting the signals? What for...
Yesterday we headed south to Selçuk, a small city nearby Efes, tagged as the best preserved Greek-Roman ruins in the west Medıterranean. And really the place lives up to it! This morning we have been roaming around and got spaced out with them! We kind of tend to thing about Incan, Mayan or Asian ruins leaving the Romans behind but hey, we have to admit it, what a mistake! After seeing Efes and what they built up, a big cheers for Roman architects! The site has a jaw-dropping theatre that sits up to 25,000 people! An amazing Library and many other mouth-watering temples and buildings. The immensity of the ancient city is may be what socked us the most. There has also been time for relaxing swimming at the beach and visitiıng Serince, a nice mountain town.
You know that having a car for a few days means a lot of freedom, but also it allows us to stay in camping, which we love for the peaceful atmosphere you normally find and the low prices! Yesterday we had an enormous surprise when we arrived at the camp-site and saw a huge Dakar-like truck with an Spanish registration parked there. The owners were a couple of retired people who dedicate their free days to travel around with it. They are really well-travelled, having been in Africa and crossed the Sahara on their own! He is an engineer who has a company that builds up the cabins on top of the trucks, pick up or van chassis. And the work inside is down to perfection! All the facilities you can think of and even more like a cellar!!! When we dream about a house, something like this would be the ideal one! Only a marvel like this is worth all the post-signing mortgage related nightmares!!!!
And so, we will stick to this area for a week, jumping from ancient ruins to beaches in this fantastic area of Turkey, the place on earth with more ancient ruins per square meter! Just magic!
Enjoy and Kebab-kisses for you all!
