Leaving the land of the four architects...

Hey family! The D day has come through! Yes, we are on the way of leaving Cappadoccia behind while waiting for our night bus to Kahta, near Nemrut Dagi. It has not been easy at all to leave that magic place, for many reasons, like its awe-inspiring beauty and landscape, its huge options of stunning places and trekking and most important, the people we have met.
We have hanging around with a great bunch of people, all of them so inspiring. All started when we met Alberto, a Spanish lad travelling with his dog, his guitar and hitch-hiking for the last 19 months. Jordi and Cris, our friends from Blarney put the first piece to organise the meeting. They had met him in Italy last year and told us that he was hanging around central Turkey, so after a few e-mails we bumped into each other randomly ın the streets of Goreme. He was with Monica, a friend of his, from Spain who was visiting him for 2 weeks, another gem!
Then, there were Helene and Fred, a talented french couple cycling all the way to India and playing different instruments and setting up old movies through an old cinema-projector powered with a dynamo while pedalling! That is their show and their strategy to collect some handy-money to pay for the long trip. Hopefully we will meet them again in Iran, although we should make it before as we travel by bus...But you never know, it is so easy to get stuck in this amazing country!
The last special person we met was Mehdi, the Iranian lad working at the camping and with whom we shared loads of moments and even a barbecue and night-sleep in the caves! He is such a humble-honest person, with a hard reality, like being a political-refugee in Turkey, where his rights are half than the Turkish people ones, and dreaming in a move to California with an invitation from the US.
All together we shared many special moments and plenty of music with so many artists! Was great the night we went into the wilderness and slept in a cave-church (Alberto & Monica's home in Capadoccia...) We had a kind of prehistoric b&b and where supposed to enjoy Nosferatu projected inside the cave, but the battery did not want to work and push the projector...Destiny thing or paranormal powers...
After saying our bye's two different nights with all the drama-speeches-kissing included we ended up changing our mind and extending our days in Goreme, so finally last Thursday we made the definitive move and took 3 different buses to get to the Ihlara valley, still in Cappadocia. It is a 16Km long canyon, shallow valley with lush-green vegetation at its bottom and again, plenty caves and churches carved from the rock. The walk following the stream with sheer walls on each side was fantastic! So enjoyable! And again we camped and survived a thunder-lightning storm without getting the tent flooded. Today we are on a long journey that started early with a walk up the valley with all our backpacks, 2 buses connections and the final night bus we are currently waiting in Kayseri to get to Nemrut Dagi. This will put an end to our days in Cappadocia, a magic place, a land that has been shaped by four different architects: magma, wind, water and human being! What an incredible area!!!!
We also want to mention the friendly Turkish people here and its welcoming-hospitality. We can not put all what happened to us into words, but from homemade cakes being given to us on buses to a lad that the other day took an hour to accompany us through a city where we had to change buses in different stations. He even paid for the tickets and wanted to pay for the Kebabs as well...All this without him speaking a word of English...It was funny as we did not know what was going on, got dropped by the bus at the main road, he took us with him, jumped into two city mini-buses, crossed half the city walking and shared lunch before he left us in the right bus station... Amazing!! Again, time has a different value here!
Wow, that was long eh! We will try to upload some pic's shortly!!!!
Kisses and hugs!
