Falling in love with Turkey...

Hey guys! It is time for some updates! It did not happen much during the last days, we could define them as sunny, hot, and plenty of stunning unspoiled beaches! It seems that the clouds never turn up in this part of Turkey! We have been moving south following the coast, and stopping where we felt like, you know, going for a swim, trying to find the perfect shade for a nap, treating ourselves with the wonderful Turkish food, we just love it!
We drove through the Resadye peninsula, 120Km long and very narrow stretching like a finger almost touching the Greek islands. The landscape was again, incredible, plenty of green mountains, stranded turtles, empty beaches and lovely villages.
We tried to sleep in camp sites when we found them open, and enjoyed it so much! We kind of got stock in Oludeniz, a big tourist package destination that was like little England, with English food, football and coronation street, no signs of Tukish peolpe or restaurants, quite shocking! We escaped the day after straıght away!
The highlight of these days was a tiny village called Faralya perched on top towering cliffs, 500m above the sea. Just on the bottom of the cliffs there was the Butterfly valley, a lush green area boasting a 60m waterfall, an incredible beach and some butterflies around as you can imagine...There are two ways to get to the valley, jumping on a boat tour or the rock&roll one which means descending the cliffs through a rocky path that winds down the canyon. We went for this one, and ok, was quite tough at some points, but with time and some helpful ropes we made it down and then back up to the village. It was extremely rewarding getting down there on our own, as we could enjoy the beach almost for ourselves when the boat tours left. Up in the village we stayed in a kind of organic farm-hostel where we pitched the tent right on top of the cliff with dramatic views and of course, ate amazing dishes cooked by the owners, mainly vegetarian stuff. Just heaven!!! One of these places to remember forever!
Really guys, we are eating like kings here, enjoying so much the fresh and tasty vegetables they have like egg plant, courgettes, beans, pumpkin, tomatoes, cucumber... And then fresh yogurt and honey, mmmmm!!!! If this festival keeps going on, soon we will end up begging some restaurant to take us as kitchen porters, just to note down some recipes...
Also we did bits and pieces of the Lycian way, a 500Km walk and reasonably ranked as one of the most beautiful walks in the world.
Now we are on the way back, up to Izmir where we will meet Camille on Tuesday to keep wandering around the north coast of the Agean always following the shadow...
All the best!!! Kisses!
